I want a super home entertainment system– DVR, multi room audio and music, media center, the works.

So here is my latest hunger– moving out into an apartment with my buddies that is an incredible media hub.

Like…

  • Being able to record TV and send it to any computer at any time…
  • Or send LIVE TV to any room’s computer at any time!
    • If I’m lucky, that means that we can watch multiple channels from multiple boxes with only one cable box, or high-quality decipherable stream…
  • Being able to watch internet videos on the main TV…
  • Being able to watch whatever videos were loaded onto it!
  • Being able to send DVDs across rooms!
  • Being able to remotely tell the program to download torrents and other media, keeping users separate, but all within the upload limit, and allowing remote access to the files! 8)
  • Receive Audio from the main radio station in the house..
  • And broadcast to the household radio station from any computer!
  • Even to play a role as a game server!

It’d be complex, but damn.  I think this’d be awesome.  I think I’d need a great ethernet card, some nice RAID management.. etc..

What a headache, but fun!

Awesome for DDRing. Meet my shoes!

Awesome for DDRing. Meet my shoes!

Vibram Five-Fingers have helped my DDR fatigue almost dissipate.

The following pictures are from the third time I played in them, completing a DDR Supernova stage. I haven’t played in 3 months, so I SHOULD be out of shape, and I SHOULD be getting leg fatigue.. but I wasn’t.

So, a bit about me.  I heard about these from Dylan a Wired.com, as well as from a Google Ad while checking my Gmail.  I was afraid that they’d hurt my feet, but not so.

WHAT a score  My feet didn’t hurt, my legs feel fine!  I normally practice DDRing for a long time– three credits.  Normally, I’d be exhausted halfway into my DDR Oni mode.  however, not this time.  I was shocked– the KSOs still felt great.  My feet didn’t feel sweaty at all.

My score on the left isn’t great, but what can I do? bah humbug.

Anyways, I plan on wearing these to as many DDR workout sessions as possible.

So I went and downloaded the WordPress ReCaptcha plugin.  I hope you don’t mind.

Riviera– Also, Find Blog, Will Spam

Monday, December 8th, 2008

It’s incredible how many spammers actively look for WordPress installations, and seek to spam them.  I swear I’ve heard more posts about “Tramadol” and etc. than I ever heard before.  Some are really inventive– in that they’re freakin’ vague.

“Interesting post a friend of mine had the same opinion” … ?? yeah, ok <:|

I recently saw videos about this game called “Riviera” for the DS.  It was rereleased for the PSP as well.  I only saw battle videos, but the game seemed pretty intelligently designed.  I’d like to play it, so I’ll get back to you as soon as I do so.

I was playing a bit of Mother 3.. but I only got past the first Chapter.  I already played it untranslated, and though it hooked me on the first play, I wasn’t interested enough to keep going.

I think it’s probably becuase I totally farmed/savestated the soot balls. 8) oops.

Have you Heard? Mother 3′s Translation Patch has been released.

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

I knew about this when it came out, but I figured, “I need to make another blog post, eh?”  So, here you go.

Mother 3, the unofficial fan translation of the final installation in the Mother series has been released.  Mother 3 is the ‘final’ installation because of all the troubles its development went through.  Shigesato Itoi had originally intended its release about 11 years ago– and only about 2 years ago did he get it released on the GBA.   Because of the stress that went into its development for its ORIGINAL console (N64 and N64DD), and the final production of the GBA Title, I can guess that Itoi is sick of the pressure and hassle unsuccessful development causes.

Furthermore, Mother3 apparently was ‘badly coded’ in many parts– this means that Tomato, Jeffman, and the other M3 translation crews had to do a lot of specific fixes for issues that could’ve been better handled by the original programmers.  Of course, this wouldn’t've been an issue, if the Mother 3 team received the original code instead of the already-compiled videogame code.

Basically, it’s like getting spaghetti and meatballs,a nd having to add TONS of spices to it.  The spaghetti is already cooked, and the flavor is pretty much set-in.. so how do you alter such a core ingredient?  You make it a hundred times, and add spices to it like crazy each time– until you have something different.

Anyways, Mato is quoting numbers that are at least 70,000 from their official website.  Why Nintendo didn’t release it stateside?  Because the DS was already popular enough in the USA.  “NObody’d buy the GBA title.”  The irony is that this happened to the first game in the series (Mother 1) when it was about to be brought stateside as well.

I’d love to suggest that you get the game rom, and patch it with the unofficial translation.  But, of course, even LuizPrower of YouTube couldn’t handle “Story” and non-instant return on actions.

Ah well.  I hope this game becomes another classic, like Cave Story did.
